Privacy Policy

Draft policy — review before production.

This policy describes what data whereiput.it stores about you, why, and who can see it. It reflects how the app works today and will be reviewed by legal counsel before any public launch.

Account email

We store the email address you sign in with. It identifies your account, lets you sign in, and is how we reach you about your account. We do not sell it.

Item photos

When you add a photo of an item or a location, the image is uploaded and stored so it can be shown back to you in your inventory.

AI photo processing via the Claude API

If you use the photo assist feature, the photo you submit is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to recognize the items in it. Anthropic processes the image to return suggested items; we do not use your photos to train any model.

Typesense search indexing

Item names and details you save are indexed in Typesense so you can search your inventory quickly. The index is scoped to the spaces you can access and is never shared across accounts.

Admin-granted area sharing

An administrator can grant another user access to one of your areas. When that happens, the invited editor can see and edit the items in that shared area only — never the rest of your inventory. There is no self-service invite in this version.

Deleting your data (GDPR)

You can request deletion of your account and its data. Deletion is processed through the platform's scheduled-deletion path, which removes your account, items, and photos. Search index entries are removed as part of that process.
